Pet Insurance For Your Dog

Why should you consider insurance for your dog?

It’s a fact of life that at sometime everyone ends up at the doctor’s. It is no different for animals. It could be because of a bite, eating something that makes them sick, even a bee sting. Animals too can get cancer, diabetes and other serious illnesses. Veterinary treatments may cost you more than you would expect. And when your dog is hurting, the last thing you want to think about is the cost to make them well.
Pet insurance works the same way as your medical insurance. It offers coverage for accidents or when a pet gets seriously ill and even x-rays and radiation treatments.

In much of Europe animal insurance has been popular for years. North America is slowly catching up.

What does the insurance cover?

There are many different Insurance Programs available for dogs. Some are as little as $10.00 a month. Some policies pay for all types of vet care while others only cover accidents or when a pet gets sick. Plans can be found with pre-set annual limits or deductibles.

It is important when making your decision that you consider what an Insurance Program includes.

  • Can you take your pet to any licensed veterinarian?
  • Do they cover lab fees and prescriptions costs?
  • Do you have to pay for the visit and later be reimbursed?
  • Do they offer packages that cover annual checkups, vaccinations, spay/neuter, etc.?
  • Do they offer reduced rates for additional pets?
  • Do rates differ depending on species, age, breed and pre existing condition?
  • Do rates depend on lifestyle (indoor/outdoor pet)?
  • Is there a waiting period before coverage takes effect?

  • Many Insurance Programs offer free quotes and comparisons on-line. QuickCare Pet Insurance Programs offer you different options for both dogs and cats.

Now is the Best time to get insurance for your pets!

We all know that older pets often fall ill, what most people aren’t aware of is the fact that young pets are also very much at risk. Puppies are like babies and toddlers, they don’t have their full co-ordination. They often fall or get into situations that can hurt them. Purchasing Pet Insurance coverage when they are young before accidents occur or health conditions develop is the smart decision.
With most insurance plans if you insure your pet before they have something wrong with them you are completely covered if they develop anything in the future.

Why you really need to insure your pet!

The first thing any dog owner must think about is how much money they would spend at the vet for their sick or hurt dog. We’ve heard stories of pet owners taking out a loan to save their animal's life. Sadly some pet owners have had to put their dog to sleep when they could no longer afford the vet bills.

Pet medical insurance can save you money. It gives you the freedom to get the best care for your dog.

Be aware however that each insurance company has its pros and cons and each animal health policy needs to be looked at carefully.

    My own experience

One Saturday night last summer my sister noticed that my dog Molly was limping. We examined his leg and saw bite marks and a huge amount of swelling. It was 1:00 a.m. in the morning and there was nothing we could do. I had to listen to the poor guy whimpering through the night. First thing Sunday morning we called the emergency vet and he agreed to meet us at his office. As we were driving in my husband and I were forced to have the most awful conversation. How much could we afford to spend to make our dog better? With another new baby we didn’t have a lot of money. It was a horrible thing to have to deal with.

Don’t find yourself in the same situation. Get Dog Health Insurance and protect your dog. By acting now you will give them a better future.

Note: Health insurance is also available for cats and other animals
